38th Day: Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra in Haryana

Dalits are facing continuous violence, harassment and atrocities in Haryana especially Dalit women and children. Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra team started its journey to unite and mobilise Dalits and Backwards in Haryana to fight against the increasing number of atrocities against the Dalits and other backward castes. By doing this, NACDOR has decided to build up a movement and organise meeting after meeting in Haryana to remind our people to fight for their rights.
Today is 38th day of Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra and the Yatra started from village Pabnawa, District Kethal on 26th July 2014. The Yatra was led by Sh. Hukam Chand Ji, Suresh Tank Ji and Satpal Ji. The Yatra organised a meeting with about 20 people and introduced about NACDOR. The Yatra discussed about the ongoing violence and atrocities against Dalits particularly Dalit women. The Yatra was supported by the People and demand speedy action on the violence cases.

The Yatra had a meeting with the Majdoor Union. The leader first informed the people about the purpose of the Yatra. The Yatra had a huge discussion with the Majdoors regarding their problems. The majdoors from Bihar and U.P. shared their problems and the discrimination they are facing. They shared that they are facing discrimination and oppression on the basis of their caste and the state they belong to. They work more than the other workers but they are not given proper wages and they are denied of medical services. They are facing continuous oppression and denial of their rights from their owners.
The Yatra is demanding setting up of a Judicial Commission of enquiry on all atrocities happened in last five years and speedy justice to the victims of atrocities. They all want that the atrocities that are happening now days against Dalit should come to the notice of the government and strict action should be taken against the perpetrators. The men and women both were actively participating in the discussion and expressed their aggression on this increasing number of atrocities against women. The Yatra also financially supported by the people in the villages and requested to have more and more programmes in their village.

On 27th July 2014, Mr. Ashok Bharti visited Pundri for a Jan Sabha at Ambedkar Bhawan. He had a meeting with about 60 people regarding the culmination programme of the Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra. The planning for the Jan Akrosh Rally that is going to be happen on 9th Augustwas done. Mr. Ashok Bharti also distributed notebooks to the children of the village. the meeting was also supported by the other organisation like Sarvar Jan Sangharsh Kalyan Samiti. The people were very enthusiastic to attend the Rally.

It is the first time in Haryana since its formation in 1966 that a state wide Dalit Mobilisation is taking place. Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra has instilled confidence among the Dalits, who otherwise remain mute even when they face atrocities. At all places, the Yatra is getting huge support from the villagers and insisting for the regular programmes and visits in their villages. The Yatra is also getting financial support from the villagers. The Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra will cover more than 22 districts in Haryana before it's culmination in Chandigarhon 9th August 2014. Dalit Jan Akrosh Yatra was started from Palwal district on 22nd June 2014 and would culminate with a Dalit Jan Akrosh Rally in Chandigarh. The Yatra is expecting a huge number of people in this rally about 5000 people from different districts of Haryana.
