M.J.Akbar's joining BJP neither surprised nor shocked me. I have never been fascinated with him the fact remain that he was the person who Rajiv Gandhi during his infamous Boforse days used his services to defame V.P.Singh, who had waged a war against corruption. A forged account of Singh was opened in St Kitts bank by notorious Chandraswami and Akbar was the first to 'break' the news in India. When you are a big 'institution' then you need support from all kind of scrupulous people. Akbar wears different hats.. owner, editor, printer and so many. Perhaps, he knows that Modi will need a 'credible' English speaking counterpart of Salman Khursheed and hence Akbar a better choice. Akbar will bring no luck for Modi as Muslim politics is different than than the Dalit OBC politics. Muslim will never vote to leaders who succumb to Hindutva. Akbar remain one of the most degraded writers though he will be remain a first choice of Marwadi owned papers to speak on 'Muslim' issues.
