Fifth Arvind Memorial Seminar in Allahabad from 10 March

Scholars and Activists from India and Abroad will Participate in the Five-day Seminar on 'Problems of Socialist Transition'

Allahabad, 10 March. Scholars, writers and activists from all over India and some from abroad will participate in intensive debate and discussions on problems of socialist transition during the five-day seminar on this topic starting from 10 March in Allahabad.

The seminar is being organised in Vigyan Parishad Auditorium, Maharshi Dayanand Marg by Arvind Memorial Trust, established in memory of Com. Arvind, a brilliant Marxist intellectual and activist. Managing trustee of the Trust, Ms. Meenakshi said the topic has become extremely important today in the backdrop of the deepening economic crisis of the capitalist world and the fact that people are looking at the socialist alternative with renewed interest. All over the world scholars and activists are thinking about the achievements and failures of the socialist experiments in several countries and examining various aspects of the ideology.

The main topics to be discussed in the seminar include : Historical development of thinking on problems of Socialist transition – From Marx-Engels to Mao Tse-tung. Significance of the Great Debate and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution; Critical appraisal of achievements and failures of the great Socialist experiments of the twentieth century; Experiments of Socialist transition in the Soviet Union and China and their problems. Capitalist restoration: Critical appraisal of different positions; Question of re-evaluation of Stalin and his era; Concept of Dictatorship of Proletariat and its practical forms. Relations between the vanguard party, class and state power during Socialist transition; Critical Appraisal of the experiments in Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, the "Bolivarian alternative", the Syriza experiment in Greece and the experiments in Nepal; Critique of the positions of Trotskyists, various academic Marxists, Neo-Marxists and Post-Marxists on the Socialist transition.

Several important papers will be presented in the seminar on different aspects of the subject. Some of these include paper on Soviet experiments by Abhinav Sinha, Editor, Ahwan, On Chinese socialism and Cultural Revolution bySukhwinder, Editor Punjabi journal Pratibadh, On Stalin and Soviet Socialism by Dr. Amritpal from Ludhiana, On communisms of post-Marxists byShivani and Baby Kumari of Delhi University, On socialism in Cuba, Venezuela etc. by Sunny Singh and Arvind Rathee of DU and On Maoism and Mao Tse-tung Thought by Harsh Thakor, Mumbai.

Mithilesh Kumar of Western Sidney University, Australia will present a paper on Crisis of the European Left and a team of political activists from Nepal will present their paper on socialist transition and the question of Nepalese revolution. Besides a left revolutionary group from Greece and some political activists from US will make a presentation through internet link-up in the seminar.

Apart from this, representatives from several groups and mass organisations, writers, intellectuals and social activists from Punjab, UP, Bihar, Bengal, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Tamilnadu, Gujarat & Maharashtra will participate in the seminar.

In memory of Com. Arvind, the Arvind Memorial Trust organises a national seminar each year on an important aspect of the movement for social change. The first two seminars in Delhi and Gorakhpur were focused on different aspects of the labour movement while the third seminar was held in Lucknow on the democratic rights movement in India. The fourth seminar was centered on Caste Question and Marxism. This year a special cultural programme will be held on the evening of 12 March to commemorate the 50th Birth Anniversary of Com. Arvind.

Ms. Meenakshi said that Allahabad has been the intellectual capital of Uttar Pradesh and it is also associated with many important personalities and events of the left movement. This lends a new importance to this seminar being held here. She expressed her belief that social and political activists and intellectuals of Allahabad will participate in the seminar with an open mind and a new dimension will be added in Allahabad to the tradition of thought-provoking debate and discussion established in the previous four seminars. She said that the seminar will be held in two sessions each day from 10 AM to 8 PM. Accommodation for the guests is made at the Punjabi Bhavan, MG Marg.

पाँचवी अरविन्द स्मृति संगोष्ठी 10मार्च से इलाहाबाद में

‘समाजवादी संक्रमण की समस्याएँ’ विषय पर पाँच दिवसीय संगोष्ठी में देशभर से आये विद्वानों और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं के अलावा विदेशों से भी भागीदारी होगी

इलाहाबाद, पाँच मार्च। ‘समाजवादी संक्रमण की समस्याएँ’ विषय पर 10 मार्च से इलाहाबाद में शुरू हो रही पाँच दिवसीय संगोष्ठी में आज विश्वभर में अध्ययन-मनन का विषय बने इस अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण सवाल पर गहन चर्चा होगी। संगोष्ठी में देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों के प्रसिद्ध विद्वानों,लेखकों, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं के साथ ही विदेशों से भी इस विषय से जुड़े अध्येता और कार्यकर्ता भागीदारी करेंगे।

विज्ञान परिषद सभागार, महर्षि दयानन्द मार्ग में 10 से 14 मार्च तक चलने वाली संगोष्ठी के आयोजक ‘अरविन्द स्मृति न्यास’ की मुख्य न्यासी मीनाक्षी ने बताया कि आज जहाँ पूँजीवादी व्यवस्था वैश्विक वित्तीय संकट में धंसती जा रही है वहीं पूरी दुनिया में लोग नये सिरे से इसके विकल्प के तौर पर समाजवाद को देख रहे हैं। दुनिया के अनेक देशों में हुए समाजवादी प्रयोगों की सफ़लताओं-विफलताओं पर विचार हो रहा है तथा इस विचारधारा के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर गहन मन्थन जारी है।

संगोष्ठी में जिन प्रमुख विषयों पर विचार-विमर्श किया जाएगा वे हैं; समाजवादी संक्रमण की समस्याओं पर चिन्तन की ऐतिहासिक विकास प्रक्रिया - मार्क्स-एंगेल्स से माओ त्से-तुङ तक। महान बहस और महान सर्वहारा सांस्कृतिक क्रान्ति का महत्व; बीसवीं सदी के महान समाजवादी प्रयोगों की सफ़लताओं और असफ़लताओं का नये सिरे से आलोचनात्मक मूल्यांकन। सोवियत संघ और चीन में समाजवादी संक्रमण के प्रयोग और उनकी समस्याएँ। पूँजीवादी पुर्नस्थापनाः विविध अवस्थितियों का आलोचनात्मक मूल्यांकन;स्तालिन और उनके दौर के पुनर्मूल्यांकन का प्रश्न; सर्वहारा अधिनायकत्व की अवधारणा और इसके अमली रूप। समाजवादी संक्रमण के दौरान हिरावल पार्टी, वर्ग और राज्यसत्ता के बीच के सम्बन्ध; क्यूबा, उत्तर कोरिया, वियतनाम, “बोलिवारियन विकल्प”, यूनान में सिरिज़ा के प्रयोग और नेपाल में हुए प्रयोगों का आलोचनात्मक मूल्यांकन; समाजवादी संक्रमण के बारे में त्रात्सकीपंथी, विभिन्न अकादमिक मार्क्सवादी, नवमार्क्सवादी, और उत्तरमार्क्सवादी अवस्थितियों की  आलोचना।

संगोष्ठी में इस विषय के विभिन्न आयामों पर कई महत्वपूर्ण आलेख प्रस्तुत किये जायेंगे। सोवियत संघ में समाजवादी प्रयोगों पर आह्वान पत्रिका के सम्पादक अभिनव सिन्हा, चीन में समाजवादी निर्माण, सांस्कृतिक क्रान्ति व माओवाद पर पंजाबी पत्रिका ‘प्रतिबद्ध’ के संपादक सुखविन्दर, स्तालिन और सोवियत समाजवाद पर लुधियाना के डा. अमृतपाल, ‘उत्तर-मार्क्सवादियों’ के कम्युनिज्म पर दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय की शिवानी एवं बेबी कुमारी, क्यूबा, वेनेजुएला आदि के परिधिगत समाजवादी प्रयोगों पर दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के सनी सिंह एवं अरविन्द राठी, सोवियत एवं चीनी पार्टियों के बीच चली महान बहस परगुड़गांव के राजकुमार, माओवाद एवं माओ विचारधारा के प्रश्न पर मुंबई के हर्ष ठाकोरपेपर प्रस्तुत करेंगे।

यूरोपीय वाम के संकट पर वेस्टर्न सिडनी युनिवर्सिटी, आस्ट्रेलिया के मिथिलेश कुमार तथा समाजवादी संक्रमण एवं नेपाली क्रान्ति का सवाल विषय पर नेपाल के राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ताओं की टीम द्वारा पेपर प्रस्तुत किया जाएगा। इसके अलावा ग्रीस के एक वामपंथी क्रान्तिकारी समूह की ओर से तथा अमेरिका के कुछ राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ताओं की ओर से इंटरनेट लिंक के द्वारा अपनी प्रस्तुति दिए जाने की भी सम्भावना है।

संगोष्ठी के विभिन्न सत्रों में होने वाली चर्चा में स्थानीय बुद्धिजीवियों के अलावा उत्तर प्रदेश के विभिन्न शहरों, दिल्ली, उत्तराखंड, बिहार, झारखंड, बंगाल, पंजाब, हरियाणा, महाराष्ट्र, राजस्थान,तमिलनाडु, गुजरात के विभिन्न ग्रुपों एवं जनसंगठनों के प्रतिनिधि, लेखक-बुद्धिजीवी एवं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हिस्सा लेंगे। नेपाल से संगोष्ठी के लिए विशेष रूप से आने वाले आने वाले दल में वरिष्ठ कवि और नेपाल प्रगतिशील लेखक संघ के महासचिव मित्रलाल पंज्ञानी, कवि और क्रिटिकल स्टडी एन्ड रिसर्च सेन्टर के संयोजक विष्णु ज्ञवाली, गण्डकी साहित्य संगम पोखरा के सचिव राजेन्द्र पौडेल, नेपाल प्रगतिशील लेखक संघ के राष्ट्रीय परिषद सदस्य प्रमोद धिताल, समीक्षक पुरुषोत्तम रिजाल, फि़ल्म समीक्षक और अखिल नेपाल चलचित्रकर्मी संघ के केन्द्रीय समिति सदस्य माधव ढुंगेल, पत्रकार नरेश ज्ञवाली तथा नेपाल पत्रकार महासंघ के केन्द्रीय सभासद संगीत श्रोता शामिल हैं।

‘दायित्वबोध’ पत्रिका के सम्पादक तथा प्रखर वामपन्थी क्रान्तिकारी कार्यकर्ता एवं बुद्धिजीवी दिवंगत का. अरविन्द की स्मृति में अरविन्द स्मृति न्यास की ओर से हर वर्ष सामाजिक बदलाव से जुड़े किसी अहम सवाल पर संगोष्ठी का आयोजन किया जाता है। पहली दो संगोष्ठियां दिल्ली व गोरखपुर में मज़दूर आंदोलन के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर हुई थीं जबकि तीसरी संगोष्ठी भारत में जनवादी अधिकार आंदोलन के सवाल पर लखनऊ में आयोजित की गई थी। चौथी संगोष्ठी जाति प्रश्न एवं मार्क्सवाद विषय पर चंडीगढ़ में आयोजित की गई थी। 12 मार्च की शाम को अरविन्द के पचासवें जन्मदिवस के अवसर पर उनकी स्मृति में एक विशेष सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किया जाएगा।

सुश्री मीनाक्षी ने कहा कि इलाहाबाद उत्तर प्रदेश की बौद्धिक राजधानी रहा है और वामपंथी आन्दोलन से जुड़ी अनेक प्रमुख शख्सियतों और घटनाओं का भी यह स्थान रहा है। ऐसे में इलाहाबाद की धरती पर इस संगोष्ठी का एक अलग ही महत्व है। उन्होंने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि इलाहाबाद के सामाजिक-राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता तथा बुद्धिजीवी सेमिनार में होने वाले विचार-विमर्श में खुलकर हिस्सा लेंगे और विचारोत्तेजक बहस-मुबाहसे की पहले की चार संगोष्ठियों की परम्परा को यहां एक नया आयाम मिलेगा। उन्होंने बताया कि संगोष्ठी प्रतिदिन दो सत्रों में सुबह 10 बजे से रात के आठ बजे तक चलेगी। सभी अतिथियों के ठहरने की व्यवस्था पंजाबी भवन,महात्मा गांधी मार्ग में की गयी है।
