Dalit minor abducted, gangraped in Kotkhawda
A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a man and his nephew in Kotkhawda area here, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on January 31 in Padmanandpura village of the district, they said.
The girl had gone out for some work when the accused Shriram (35) and his nephew Bhairo (18) pulled her into their jeep and took her to an isolated area near the village where they gang-raped her.
"She returned home at night and narrated the incident to her parents, following which her father lodged an FIR yesterday," the police said.
Both the accused are absconding and police is on a look out for them, they added.

SC/ST panel to probe suicide by principal

The National Commission for Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes will probe the circumstances forcing Ranjit Singh (59), principal of a government school at Latala village, to commit suicide.
Ranjit Singh's son Paramvir Singh had complained to the commission against police investigation in the case.
Speaking to The Tribune, Dr Rajkumar Verka, Vice-Chairman, of the commission, said: "We will conduct an investigation and record the statements of the victim's relatives. We will also seek a time-bound police probe."
Paramvir said a woman clerk's allegation that his father had made sexual advances towards her was baseless.
He said his father had taught at a girls' school for nearly 20 years before he was made principal.
"I have come to know that the clerk had an illicit affair with a schoolteacher, whose name is in the suicide note.
When my father objected to their ties, she began hurling all kinds of allegations at my father. This drove him to suicide," alleged Paramvir.
He said he did not wish to make the issue political (the suicide note mentions "MLA Dakha") but wanted the police to take action against those mentioned in the suicide note. Ranjit Singh's body was retrieved from the Sirhind Feeder Canal near Ahmedgarh yesterday.

Karnataka CM hits out at party chief
BANGALORE: Stung by the criticism that he had neglected dalits, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah hit out at his party chief G Parameshwara on Tuesday, saying that the budgetary allocations have been proportionate to the population.
Speaking to reporters at a programme here, without naming Parameshwara, Siddaramaiah said the allegation of inadequate allocation and neglect of dalits was false. At the Chalavadi (dalit) convention held on Sunday, Parameshwara had alleged that dalits had been neglected politically and in the budget.
"Allocation in the budget is made based on the population. No community is neglected. I have given grants to the tune of 24% to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. How can this be injustice? I don't want to reply to baseless allegations," he said.
The criticism of the government and the CM by Parameshwara has earned the displeasure of some Congress leaders in the state who have asked the party bosses to rein in the duo. The complaint states that there was enough representation to dalits and minorities both politically and in terms of grants in the budget.
A few days earlier, Haris had said Muslim representation in the cabinet should be increased to five from the present three.
Panna Ismail and Police Fakrudeen were arrested in October last year while Paravai Basha was picked up this year. TN police arrested them during investigation into the murders of senior state unit BJP functionary, Auditor Ramesh, and Hindu Munnani leader Vellaiyappan.
Sources in Tamil Nadu police said Ismail and Fakrudeen are not in police custody but in jail. Basha, whose arrest was the most recent, is still in police custody.
