A documentary on the plight of the Indian Tamil fishermen.
Kachchateev is a small island in Palk Strait. It lies 25 kms off Rameswaram in India, and almost 75 kms. towards Jaffna in Sri Lanka. The fate of the fisher community was being cruelly decided by borders demarcated in water, which never really cared for the fisher people's livelihood and happiness. Like we have check posts at our borders on land, which has a mechanism for catching any suspicious person/s or vehicle that tries to cross over illegally, why is this lacking in our water borders; why this indiscriminate killing of the fisher folk trying to make a living the hard way fighting against all odds?
Nearly 1500 fishermen were killed by the Srilankan Navy till the civil war in Sri- Lanka came to an end.
We screen in practically any space we are offered. Organisations,Institutions,Individuals, schools, colleges ....all are requested for a screening of the film
